Abandoned farm-scapes always get to me. This silo and barn, surrounded by fields of corn and other crops and framed by sunflowers, sit near the tiny town of Springfield, Nebraska.
While of course agriculture is alive and well in Nebraska, family farms are increasingly less common. When I see places like the one in this photo, I think this erstwhile farm must have been in a family of farmers for years, until eventually, they couldn’t make a living off it any more.
Funny – Google tells me there is an actual Erstwhile Farm not far from me. Tongue in cheek?
